Our Foundation
Wendler’s 5 Key Principles

Protecting people comes first. When teams do that, efficiency and savings follow.
All accidents and injuries are preventable through proper training and job site management.
Safety is a shared responsibility between owners, engineers, management, crews, and subcontractors.
Operational exposures can be safeguarded to prevent injuries, accidents, and property damage.
Every worker is trained to work safely, recognizing that safety benefits themselves, their families and the company.
Our Safety Record Speaks for Itself
With an EMR consistently under 1.0, we bring less risk and more control to every jobsite.
We partner with Iowa OSHA, follow site-specific plans, and lead with experience you can trust. When safety is built into the schedule, quality and timelines follow.

Our FAQs
Your Safety Questions, Answered

What makes Wendler’s safety program different?
With OSHA-certified crews, daily hazard reviews, and field leaders who’ve worked the trades, we build safety into every phase of your project. Our low EMR is a direct reflection of our proactive approach, our training programs, and our success at preventing incidents before they happen. It’s not just compliance—it’s our culture.
How do you prepare crews for complex or high-risk scopes of work?
We start with training and planning. Crews are briefed with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) before work begins, and we tailor safety protocols to the job’s specific risks—whether it’s excavation, confined space, or electrical systems.
How do you ensure subcontractors follow your safety standards?
Every subcontractor is required to follow Wendler’s site-specific safety plan and meet our stringent PPE requirements. They attend daily briefings, join safety meetings, and are held to the same expectations as our own crews. If a subcontractor can’t meet our standard, they’re not on our worksite.
What happens if there’s a safety issue on-site?
We respond immediately. Our superintendents stop work if necessary, assess the situation, and correct the issue on the spot. Every incident, no matter how minor, is documented, reviewed, and used as a learning opportunity. We communicate openly with owners and engineers, so there are no surprises. Our goal is to fix the issue, prevent recurrence, and keep your project moving safely and responsibly.
