When a private client required a new 161/13kV distribution substation to support expanding commercial development in Johnson County, they partnered with Wendler to deliver a complete EPC solution.

The project addressed a growing need for reliable distribution capacity and included engineering, procurement, and construction of a new high-voltage facility, along with upgrades to remote ends.

Wendler’s scope included all below-grade and above-grade construction, deep foundation installation, cast-in-place concrete, grounding systems, structural and electrical work, demolition, grading, fencing, and procurement of major equipment. The team coordinated closely with Stanley Consultants to ensure accurate and timely engineering deliverables throughout the project.

A defining aspect of the work was the aggressive schedule. The owner experienced delays in property acquisition, which further compressed the construction timeline. Wendler responded by managing engineering progress closely, sourcing approved materials from international suppliers, and working through cold-weather conditions to maintain momentum and meet the required energization date.

The completed substation now provides increased distribution capacity and supports new commercial properties in the region. The project demonstrates Wendler’s ability to execute complex EPC substation work on tight timelines while maintaining precision, quality, and operational readiness.
